Among 5 other candidates, on February 5th 2018, Nihira was chosen as Patan's new Kumari at the Ratnakar Mahavihar, Patan's Kumari Temple. Nihira, daughter of Niraj and Mohini Bajracharya, acceded to the throne as the new Kumari on February 17th 2018 as the successor to the now 10-year-old Yunika.
